About me
Hi there. My name's Rachel Salisbury and I am an actress and writer Australian-born, Derby-brought up. I trained as an actress at East 15 Acting School and have been writing as well in the past few years. I write predominantly poetry, also short stories and plays. My poem "Snapshot" was published in Forward Poetry's anthology "Immersed in Words" last year. It also won the prize for best poem in the book! Thrilled was an understatement.
Two of my short plays were performed in London last year. My play "Swaps" was performed by Second Sons Theatre Company at The Bunker in September. Another play "Mooncalves" was performed as part of Rich Creative's new writing night "The Female Gaze Volume III - Spellbound" at the Cockpit Theatre in October. For the latter, West End Wilma wrote: "Thirdly we had ‘Mooncalves’, which dealt with the planned transition into womanhood held by three young women, culminating in a powerful spiritual experience – this was a particular stand-out script for me, and received a very strong reaction from an engaged audience." A link to the full review of the night is available here: http://www.westendwilma.com/review-the-female-gaze-cockpit-theatre-3/
My play "NYE" was performed as part of Culture Clash Theatre's new writing night "Voices in the Dark" at Greenwich Theatre on the 24th April.
I also performed a self-written show called "To the Moon... and back... and back..." at the Etcetera Theatre in the Camden Fringe 2018. It received numerous glowing 4 star reviews!
